About the Station

Universiti LRT Station is an elevated rapid transit station in Petaling Jaya, Selangor forming part of the Kelana Jaya Line. The Station was opened on September 1, 1998, as part of the line's first segment encompassing 10 elevated stations between Kelana Jaya Station and Pasar Seni Station (excluding the KL Sentral Station opened later) and the line's maintenance depot in Subang Valley.

The Universiti LRT Station is named after the university nearby to the Station, University Malaya, a public research university located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the oldest university in Malaysia.

This Station intended to serves the local population of Universiti Malaya and neighbouring Kampung Kerinchi, Pantai Dalam and Pantai Hill Park. Vista Angkasa Apartment is the nearest residential property to this Station.

The Station was renamed to KL Gateway–Universiti after Suez Capital, a local property development was given naming rights by Prasarana Malaysia. KL Gateway is the major redevelopment of Kampung Kerinchi into premium residential, shopping mall & office tower.

Platform Architecture

Universiti LRT Station's layout is somewhat similar with other elevated Kelana Jaya Line stations. The Station has three levels: The access points at street level, the ticket counter area at first elevated level and adjoining island platform on second elevated levels. All levels are linked via stairways, escalators and elevators designated for disabled passengers.

The Station's island platform is used by trains travelling at either direction of the line, and is entirely sheltered by roofs.
