Nilai KTM Komuter Station
About The Station
The Nilai KTM Komuter Station is a KTM Komuter train halt forms part of a common
KTM Komuter railway line in Seremban Line. The Station was completed
and opened to the public on 1995. It is situated close to and
named after the old town of Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. The Station strictly
serves as a two-platform train halt for the Seremban Line KTM Komuter
train service.
The Station, as are virtually all small train halts along the Komuter lines,
is situated along two lanes of railroad (two basic routes) designated for
trains traveling northbound or southbound. Due to its use as a connection
from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)
and klia2, as well as few
universities and colleges a
distance away, the Station receives a substantially large number of
passengers throughout its operational hours.
Initially consisting of a small station building with one operational ticket
counter and two ticket vending machines, and covered platforms, the Station
had since undergone significant extensions in 2005 and 2006 to support more
passengers.
Interchange Station
The Station is notable as a link to Sepang, where the Sepang International
Circuit and the KLIA and
klia2 are situated. For the former, tents and additional
ticket counters are usually prepared in anticipation of an increased influx
of passengers during the Malaysian leg of the Formula One tournament.
KTM Komuter passengers bound for the
KLIA have the option of taking the
train to Nilai Station and board a bus from Nilai Station to the
KLIA /
klia2, or
stopping at the KL Sentral Station and then change and ride the
KLIA Ekspres
to KLIA /
klia2. The buses is not
stop in front of Nilai KTM Station, requiring the passengers leaving the Station
to walk along a stretch of road (~200 meter) to reach the Bus Terminal.
Due to the distance and unsheltered between both stations, they are not effectively
integrated.
Prior to the completion of the KLIA Ekspres, the Nilai
Station was the only
connecting railway station to the
KLIA.
KLIA-bound bus services, which
typically take up to an hour to reach the airport from Nilai Station or vice versa,
are provided for passengers.
