About the Station

Medan Tuanku Monorail Station is an elevated monorail train station that forms a part of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail (KL Monorail) line located in Kuala Lumpur and opened alongside the rest of the train service on August 31, 2003.

The Station is situated in and named after Medan Tuanku, a small commercial district in Kuala Lumpur. The name of "Medan" was derived from Indian Hindi language word "Maidan" meaning "ground" or "land", whereas the name "Tuanku" derived from a direct English translation of "King". Thus the name Medan Tuanku means "King's Ground".

The Station is situated above Jalan Sultan Ismail, just south of Chow Kit and located east from an intersection with Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman; it marks the start and end of the Monorail Line that runs parallel along Jalan Sultan Ismail Road, up until the Bukit Bintang Station, after which the line turns west to Jalan Imbi at the both road intersection.

This area are connected to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Dang Wangi via "backroads". Quill City Mall is linked to Medan Tuanku Monorail Station by a bridge on the second floor.

Medan Tuanku Monorail Station has 5 entrances / exits, with two leading to either side of Jalan Sultan Ismail at the northern and southern points. 5th entrances / exits (E) added when Quill City Mall was opened on 16 October 2014.

Platform Architecture

Medan Tuanku Monorail Station's layout is similar to other KL Monorail Line stations. The Station has three levels: The access points at street level, and the ticket area and adjoining platforms on two elevated levels. All levels are linked via stairways, escalators and elevators designated for disabled passengers.

The Station's side platform is used by trains travelling at either direction of the line, and is entirely sheltered by roofs.
